Pierre Shedleur , FCA President and General Manager
Profile
Mr. Pierre Shedleur is a graduate of the Business Administration School of the University of Montréal. He has been a chartered accountant since 1972 and a Fellow of the Order of Chartered Accountants of Quebec since 1996. He began his career in private practice, later served in the fields of education and school administration, and, in 1980, joined Québec public service in key positions within the Department of Education and the Treasury Board.
From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Shedleur served as President of the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST) (Occupational Health and Safety Board). Under his direction, CSST succeeded in turning around a difficult financial position while concurrently enhancing its services. His achievement s at CSST earned him the recognition of the business community. In 1990, he received the Achievement Award, a distinction awarded by the Alumni Association of the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP) (National School of Public Administration). In 1996, Mr. Shedleur and the CSST staff were also the recipients of the Gold Medal for Innovative Management awarded by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC).
In 1997, Mr. Shedleur joined Bell Canada as Vice-President, Public Sector and Strategic Alliances. In 1998, he accepted the position of Senior Vice-President, Business and Public Sector Markets. During the course of 2004, at the request of the Prime Minister of Québec, he co-chaired regional forums on Québec’s future as well as an advisory group on the state of public finances. Through his various professional experiences, Mr. Shedleur has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the main stakes at play in the economic and social development of Québec, both in metropolitan areas and resource regions.
Mr. Shedleur has always been an active member of the community. He has held various positions within economic development organizations, including Chairman of the Québec City Metropolitan Area Board of Trade and Industry and Chairman of the Board of the Cité de la Santé de Laval hospital. He has also served as director of several corporations in addition to supporting many a social and cultural cause. Mr. Shedleur has been heading the fundraising committee for the Red Cross in Québec for five years and has been acting as the Honourary Chairman of the of the annual Classique de golf held by Moisson Montréal, for two years.
