Jacinthe Dauphin, President and Chief operating officer of SGF Chimie Inc. dies suddenly
Montréal, April 7, 2003 - "SGF employees were shocked and saddened to learn this morning of the sudden death last Saturday, April 5, of Jacinthe Dauphin, President and Chief Operating Officer of SGF Chimie and President of SOQUIP Énergie, both SGF subsidiaries", said Claude Blanchet, Chair of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of SGF.
"Mrs. Dauphin joined SGF in 1993 and was the initiator and also played a pivotal role in the true revival of the petrochemical industry in Québec in the past five years, adding several million dollars in foreign investments to the Québec economy, continued Blanchet. Jacinthe’s dynamism also energized her colleagues at SGF and her partners."
Premier Bernard Landry, the Minister responsible for SGF, offered his condolences to Mrs. Dauphin’s family, saying "I have rarely had the privilege of knowing and working with someone of the caliber of Jacinthe Dauphin. She was devoted to her work and a tireless promoter of Québec in other countries, and we have her to thank for such achievements as Interquisa Canada, PTT Poly Canada and Pétrochimie Coastal in Montréal East, Petresa in Bécancour and the revitalization of Pétromont in Varennes."
