PTT Poly Canada

PTT Poly Canada has started up a polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) production facility in Montréal (fall 2004). The world’s first commercial-size PTT production plant will bolster synergy among companies in Montréal’s petrochemicals cluster by procuring its raw material from neighbouring PTA producer, Interquisa Canada.

PTT is a nylon replacement fibre marketed under the CORTERRA trade name, and it combines the best properties of both nylon and polyester. It is a polymer designed for the world carpet and textile manufacturing market. The plant is designed to produce 95,000 metric tons per year. PTT Poly Canada is a subsidiary of Shell Chemicals (United States).
