Rexforêt’s mission is to support the operations of public-sector agencies (government ministries and others) in the implementation of programs or projects related to the integrated management of forest resources. In carrying out its work, Rexforêt subcontracts the work to third parties, which include co-operatives, forestry associations, private enterprise and First Nations groups.

Rexforêt’s principal mandate is implementation of the Québec Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife’s Programme de création d'emplois en forêt (forestry job-creation program). Under the program, Rexforêt is involved in such initiatives as development of First Nations businesses in the forest-management industry, and job creation.
