5th Classique de golf Moisson Montréal raises a record $162,000!

Montréal, June 19, 2007 – The 5th Classique de golf Moisson Montréal took place on June 11 at Club de golf Saint-Raphaël in the heart of Île Bizard.

Under the honourary chairmanship of Pierre Shedleur, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Société générale de financement du Québec, many partners and sponsors took part enthusiastically in the tournament. A total of 292 golfers played in the fund-raising event and contributed generously to this annual activity held to benefit Moisson Montréal.
 

With the involvement of Groupe Petra and many donors,
the fifth edition of the Classique de golf 2007 raised
a record $162,000 for Moisson Montréal.


All the funds raised by the golf tournament will help Moisson Montréal, the largest food bank in Canada, in its efforts to provide a secure food supply for people in difficulty in Greater Montréal, in partnership with the community, and to promote the development of sustainable solutions to poverty-related problems.

Moisson Montréal recovers food and essential products and distributes them free of charge to community organizations on the Island of Montréal all year long. The food bank, which was founded in 1984, also fosters the development of lasting solutions promoting the independence of people in difficulty. It also works to make the public and the authorities aware of the issue of hunger and poverty. Each month, Moisson Montréal distributes about 750,000 kilos of food to 189 organizations that help 130,000 people, making it the largest food bank in Canada.
